Hail

Don't leave your MPCI deductible uncovered. Adding a hail policy protects more than just hail depending on your policy type and endorsements.

Basic Hail Policy

A Basic Hail policy covers hail damage starting at 1% loss. No deductibles to try to meet. 

​Perils Insured Against

  • Hail

  • Fire and Lightning

  • Transit Coverage

  • Fire Department Service Charge upto $500

  • Vandalism

Catastrophe Loss Award- when a loss exceeds 70% an additional amount of 1/2of the percent of loss that is in excess of 70% will be paid.

Policy Period-

  • Stand-alone Hail Policy- annual policy that provides coverage only for the current crop year.

    • Carryover Coverage- allows for a claim to be paid in the current crop year, based on the prior year's coverage as long as the application for the current year is received on or before May 1 on wheat, and June 1 on spring planted crops.​

  • Easyhail Policy- when your crop-hail coverage is written in conjunction with the MPCI policy. The term of the policy is continuous until written notice of cancellation is received by May 1 for wheat and June 1 for spring planted.​

Endorsements-

  • Harvested Stored Grain (under care and custody of you or your tenant)

  • Optional Fire and Lightning for Crops Planted in Small Grain Stubble​

  • Optional Wind Endorsement- wheat, barley, oats

​

  • Wind Coverage for Corn (lodging and green snap) must be elected by July 1

    • must carry wind coverage on all insurable fields of corn in the same county.​

​

Crop-Fire Insurance- Removes all perils except Fire. Coverage must be elected prior to June 1 for wheat.  All other crops coverage must be elected by August 31.​

Kansas 2hr binder- Kansas has a two-hour hail binder. When an application is submitted to the AIP, then the hail coverage takes place at two hours post submission. Applications must be signed with in 7 days and returned to the agent.
