Prevented Plant DC Soybeans

Updated: Jun 27

Determining whether it's too wet to harvest wheat and still have time to plant double-crop soybeans by the final planting date depends on current field conditions and weather forecasts. In counties that have the NFAC/FAC classification for soybeans, there is prevented plant coverage on the FAC soybeans at the normal rate of 60% coverage. (NFAC- Not following another crop, FAC- Following anther crop)

If you are in a county that does not insure double crop soybeans, but you have a written agreement that allows coverage, then you would have the pp coverage also.

However, you must consider what other producers in your area are experiencing. If it is way too wet to get the wheat harvested and no one is getting their double crop beans planted by July 5, then there is a good chance that you will have the coverage granted.

Prevented Plant Notice of Loss is due by: 3 days post final plant date. We have a late plant period that helps with still being able to insure the crop if you are just a few days behind the final plant period. There is a deduction of 1% decrease in your guarantee per day of late planting. Late plant period ends July 20.

Keep good records of your planting dates, especially if you are planting in the late plant period. Late plant dates should be recorded by the day and acres planted.
